This course is deliberately designed as a live, face-to-face event to enable a level of connection and depth that’s hard to replicate online. Delegates will benefit from spontaneous, high-value conversations with the facilitator and peers, on-the-spot clarification and customisation of advice regarding school libraries. Relationship-building that continues long after the workshop ends. This is more than a course! it’s an energising, personal and professionally rich experience that empowers participants to return to their schools as informed, confident, and creatively charged leaders in school librarianship.

This is not your average workshop. This is a rare opportunity to custom-shape your learning with direct access to a leading international expert in school libraries. Whether you are wrestling with information literacy, space redesign, collection development, reading engagement, digital strategy, or advocacy, this workshop is your chance to:

  • Ask specific questions about your context
  • Share your ideas and get constructive feedback
  • Discover global practices you can adapt locally
  • Feel empowered, understood, and professionally supported

This experience will refresh your thinking and arm you with practical, evidence-based insights you can use immediately.

DAY 1
8:45  Registration and refreshments
9:00  Setting the Scene: Shared Priorities & Library Realities

  • Guided group discussion of the pre-survey results
  • Identification of priority topics, grouped by common themes
  • Introduction from the facilitator, including relevant global trends, research insights, and reflective questions
  • Participants begin to contextualise their own school situations in light of wider practices

Benefit: Participants immediately see their input shaping the course. This ensures relevance and promotes ownership of the learning process. Meeting face to face enables trust-building, candid conversation, and connection beyond professional roles.

10:30  Coffee break
11:00  Expert Insights & Peer Problem-Solving Clinics

  • Facilitator-led input on selected focus topics, with practical examples from international contexts
  • Opportunities to “interrogate the expert” — ask targeted questions based on school-specific challenges
  • Small-group “consultation circles” where each participant presents a challenge and receives real-time advice from the expert and peers

Benefit: This session offers deep, relevant advice grounded in decades of practical experience and research. Participants leave with ideas that can be adapted and applied directly. Face-to-face dynamics allow for quick clarification, idea-bouncing, and mutual encouragement.

13:00  Lunch break
14:00  Solutions, Sharing & Strategic Planning

  • Delegates work individually or in small groups to sketch a plan or solution based on workshop discussions
  • Peer feedback and expert coaching to refine ideas
  • Group reflection and takeaways: what will be done differently and how
  • Wrap-up by the facilitator including tools, resources, and optional follow-up connections

Benefit: This final session emphasises practicality and impact. Participants do not just leave with theory but they walk away with actions, frameworks and the confidence to lead change. Being in the room together helps build momentum, accountability and a lasting sense of professional community.                                                              Plenary
