The course will interweave theories of learning, research in English teaching and practical strategies.
An interactive Worksop will leave participants raring to use the strategies in the classroom and feel uplifted, inspired and motivated.
Deepen Understanding of Drama as a Tool for Learning
Goal: Equip educators with a theoretical and research-based foundation for using drama to enhance creativity, literacy, and cognitive skills in primary learners.
Applications:
- Explore key learning theories that underpin the use of drama in education, such as Vygotsky’s Social Constructivism and Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences.
- Review research on the impact of drama in English teaching, focusing on its role in fostering oracy, reading comprehension, and writing skills.
Considerations: Ensure educators understand how drama supports holistic development, including emotional and social growth.
Equip Educators with Practical Drama Strategies
Goal: Provide hands-on techniques for integrating drama into classroom practice to motivate and engage students.
Applications:
- Introduce strategies such as role-play, collective conscience, freeze frames and situation drama.
- Demonstrate how to use drama as a scaffold for thinking, creative writing, character analysis, and reading comprehension.
- Share classroom management techniques to facilitate active and inclusive participation in drama activities.
Considerations: Offer adaptable strategies that cater to varying age groups, abilities, and curriculum objectives.
Create Interactive and Inclusive Learning Environments
Goal: Foster the confidence and skills needed to use drama for creating engaging, inclusive, and culturally responsive lessons.
Applications:
- Train educators to use drama for enhancing collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving among students.
- Model inclusive practices that allow all learners, regardless of their abilities or backgrounds, to participate and thrive.
Empower Educators Through Interactive Workshops · Goal: Inspire and motivate educators to confidently implement drama-based strategies in their classrooms. · Applications: o Engage participants in an immersive workshop that models effective drama techniques and strategies. o Provide opportunities for collaboration and peer feedback during hands-on activities. o Share practical tips for immediate application, including lesson ideas and planning tools. · Considerations: Create an energising, supportive atmosphere that leaves participants feeling uplifted and ready to innovate in their teaching.
