Aims of the course
  • Explore Effective behaviour Management Strategies: Participants will examine a variety of evidence-based behaviour management strategies that can be employed in the classroom setting. By understanding different approaches, educators will be better equipped to handle low-level disruptions and promote a conducive learning environment.
  • Understand the Underlying Causes of Low-Level behaviour: Educators will delve into the root causes of low-level behaviour and what students may be communicating through their actions. This understanding will enable participants to approach behaviour management with empathy, recognising the importance of context and individual student needs.
  • Implement Engagement Techniques: The course will focus on effective engagement strategies that keep students actively involved in their learning, thereby reducing instances of low-level behaviour. Participants will learn to create dynamic and interactive lessons that cater to diverse student interests and promote positive participation.
  • Develop Self-Regulation Skills as Practitioners: Educators will explore the concept of self-regulation in their roles, learning techniques to manage their own responses to low-level disruptions. By enhancing their self-regulation skills, participants will model appropriate behaviour for students, fostering a calmer classroom environment that supports effective learning.

These aims will help guide participants in developing the skills needed to manage low-level behaviour successfully, ensuring that learning remains the primary focus in the classroom.

Intended outcomes
  • Effective Application of behaviour Management Strategies: By the end of the course, participants will be able to effectively apply a range of behaviour management strategies tailored to address low-level disruptions in the classroom. Educators will demonstrate confidence in selecting and implementing appropriate interventions to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Insight into Causes of Low-Level behaviour: Educators will gain insights into the various causes of low-level behaviour, equipping them to interpret student actions more accurately. Participants will be able to recognise what low-level behaviours may be communicating, leading to more empathetic and informed responses.
  • Enhanced Student Engagement: By implementing targeted engagement techniques learned in the course, educators will enhance student participation and motivation in their lessons. Participants will be able to design and facilitate interactive learning experiences that capture student interest and reduce the likelihood of disruptive behaviour.
  • Improved Self-Regulation as Practitioners: Participants will achieve greater self-regulation skills in their professional practice, allowing them to remain calm and composed in the face of low-level disruptions. This outcome will enable educators to model appropriate emotional responses and behaviour for their students, fostering a more disciplined and productive classroom atmosphere.

These intended outcomes will ensure that participants leave the course with practical skills and insights that can be immediately applied to enhance their classroom management and protect the learning process.
