Aims of the course

To introduce early years practitioners and apprentices to the new Early Years Framework. 

  • To support settings in implementing the framework effectively across all areas of practice.
  • To ensure practitioners and apprentices understand their roles in delivering high-quality early education and care under the new framework.
  • To prepare settings for inspection by understanding the key expectations and evaluation criteria.
  • To promote a culture of continuous improvement and high standards in early years provision.
Intended outcomes
  • To understand the purpose, structure, and key principles of the new Early Years Framework.
  • Understand how the framework influences curriculum design, teaching approaches, and child development.
  • Recognise the role of leadership, teamwork, and professional development in successfully implementing the framework.
  • Apply the framework’s guidance to create high-quality learning environments that support all areas of child development.
  • Identify key inspection criteria and expectations to ensure the setting is well-prepared.
  • Evaluate current practice in relation to the new framework and identify areas for improvement.

Beth Harris is a qualified teacher and principal with over 25 years of experience in international education. She holds bachelor’s degrees in education and has worked in senior leadership roles across public and private schools in the UK, Europe, China, and the UAE. Her areas of expertise include curriculum design, assessment development, school improvement, and leadership training. As a registered inspector, Beth has participated in more than 500 school inspections worldwide, including leading inspections under multiple national frameworks. Her work includes extensive experience with inspection systems in the UAE, where she continues to support schools in aligning practice with regulatory standards.
