  • To equip the delegate with the confidence to manage allegations of abuse against staff and volunteers.

  • Recognise possible risks and identify measures to mitigate risk
  • Understand how to effectively manage communication

AN INTERNATIONAL APPROACH: Our Alliance consists of organisations from around the world who share a mutual passion and drive to put an end to safeguarding failings. We work with governments and organisations across the world, and act on an international level to encourage global standards and practices. We research, develop and promote policy and deliver education and training, all with the aim of driving forward safeguarding excellence.

Programme details:

This course has been designed to ensure that you take a systematic approach and understand the importance of evidencing when faced with a safeguarding concern.

As part of this course, The Safeguarding Alliance will provide you with a managing allegations of abuse policy and other relevant resources aimed to equip you with the confidence when making decisions.

The Course will explore:

  • Understanding what allegation is and how allegations may arise
  • Identify guidance in relation to managing allegations of abuse
  • Examine roles and responsibilities in effectively managing allegation
  • Understanding the importance of providing support to all those involved
  • Understanding the importance of risk and critical incident management in mitigating moral panic

Session 1:  It can happen here

  • This session will explore the idea of ‘it can happen here’. Case studies will be shared as an introduction to the course. The importance of clear systems and procedures will be explored in relation to managing an allegation of abuse against staff and volunteers

Break

Session 2:  Communication, next steps and managing the outcome

  • This session focuses on the importance of effective communication to key stakeholders throughout the process as well as identifying the next steps and managing the outcome.
