Philip Davis is the creator of Write Inspired. He began working in education in a school for children with behavioural problems. Following this he worked in schools in South London as a class teacher developing his unique and inspirational approach to the teaching of writing. He started Write Inspired to put all his ideas under one banner. He now works in schools in the UK and internationally sharing his innovative techniques.
He has spoken at many conferences globally as well as deliver his acclaimed Inset day to hundreds of schools. The day course is practical, entertaining and thought provoking. It is hugely popular with teachers. It gives them what they want. Practical solutions to the age old problem of engagement, enjoyment and agency in writing.
Philip is determined to rebalance the current obsession of simply teaching the rules of writing which teachers all understand is not the answer. In addition to rules there needs to be purpose, passion and a meaning to writing. When children are engaged and enjoy writing, they thrive.
A unique aspect of Write Inspired is that it is rooted in practice and constantly tested in classrooms.
He has recently been working as an honorary research associate at Kings College London looking at the efficacy and importance of a more creative approach to writing. He spoke about this work in an international conference in Rome to much acclaim.
Philip is a passionate musician and sound recording engineer and uses these skills to develop the sonic aspects of his work. He is continually visiting and working in schools all over the world inspiring both teachers and students to rediscover the true joy of writing.
