TFL Education have partnered with the Royal Chartered Management Institute to offer school leaders an accredited route to the prestigious award of Chartered Manager. The award is the highest status that can be achieved in management and leadership and is recognised throughout the public and private sectors and across all management disciplines as a mark of excellence.

This two-day course provides the opportunity for Middle Leaders and Senior Leaders to reflect on your key achievements, leading people and managing change skills, principal learning lessons and future learning plans. The context specific management and leadership focus encourages participants to tie ideas to action to create real impact in your school.

About the Provider/Trainer

Aiden Harper BEd (Hons) MA CMgr FCMI Aiden is the Director of TFL Education and a Director at Great Schools Trust, a Multi Academy Trust based in North West England. Aiden is also a Chartered Manager Advisor and Assessor. Drawing on his experience as a teacher and leader in secondary schools, Aiden has spent the last 10 years designing a flexible and sustainable life-long leadership development framework. The framework provides character and leadership development programmes for primary and secondary school pupils and Royal Chartered Management Institute management and leadership qualifications for teachers and school leaders. His work at Teaching Future Leaders has seen him provide and deliver programmes across the UK in the state and private sector and in a number of countries including: Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, Thailand, UAE, USA, Switzerland, Cyprus, Egypt, Sudan, Malawi and Nigeria.

Your Bespoke Route to Chartered Manager

Chartered Manager is a practically based assessment that reviews your personal skills and expertise in leading people and managing change, and how these skills underpin continually effective performance and make a positive contribution to your school.

What do I have to do?

 

Your role within the process is to:

 

  • Attend the two-day course and complete a full draft of the Chartered Manager written submission and return to your Advisor / Assessor for review
  • Provide any additional information if requested by your Advisor / Assessor
  • Undertake a telephone interview with your Advisor / Assessor to confirm that you are meeting the Chartered Manager standards, including answering any questions they may have or provide additional information should they require. The telephone interview will last approximately 1 hour

Chartered Manager Written Submission

Your written submission document covers seven sections:

 

  • Section 1 – Introduction – Place your submission in context.
  • Section 2 – Achievements and Contribution.
  • Section 3 – Explanation of how you have used the skill of ‘Leading People’ to achieve the outcomes in Section 2.
  • Section 4 – Explanation of how you have used the skill of ‘Managing Change’ to achieve the outcomes in Section 2.
  • Section 5 – Identify your principal learning lessons.
  • Section 6 – Identify your future learning plans.
  • Section 7 – Who can corroborate your claim?

Placing your submission in context requires you to briefly explain the background to your submission, the sector in which you work, your organisation, your role and scope of responsibility.

 

Your key achievements (established in discussion with your Advisor / Assessor during the 2-day course) should span the last 18 months and you should explain the contribution or influence you have had upon your school’s performance. Where possible you should include measures (quantitative or qualitative) or outcomes to illustrate your contribution.
