About Me

Matthew Stensrud, Teacher & Music Educator is an award-winning and internationally acclaimed elementary music teacher currently living in the United States and teaching preschool through fourth grade general music and movement at the prestigious Sidwell Friends School in Washington DC. He was a key content contributor to the book Responsive Classroom for Music, Art, PE, & Other Special Areas and specializes in building a student-centered, inclusive, and responsive classroom for all. Now in his twelfth-year teaching, Matthew has both his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and his certification in Orff Schulwerk, an approach to music education that embraces playfulness, imagination, and creativity.
